Davis Love Story Workshop Day 3 - Final Day

Has it really been three days since we started this workshop? Where does all the time go? Indeed it is true when you say that time flies when you are having fun! Today we shifted our gear from practicing our shooting and mastering our techniques to focusing on the back end things and the business side of photography. I know this was going to be good. I can't wait to share about the good things that went on today!

Using the latest technology acquired from the movie Star Trek, I beamed myself to the conference center at the Mariott Hotel in Oak Brook, IL.

My buddy Roxanne Benton from Pixel2Canvas was there to greet me. :)

We got down to business right away.

Who knew organizing images could be this important?!

Woo, check out all these awesome canvas prints. I am going to have to get one of myself printed on them! By the way, she looks familiar. Where have I seen her before?!

Woo, little fans were there to hang out with me! My shirts were selling like hot cakes!

I got to do some video recording for Anton randomly through out the day...

Watching Dawn retouching one of my sexy mugs...

Dawn inspired all of us talking about having dreams and goals...

Bob & Dawn tag teamed back and forth teaching us various things!

Is Michael taking notes or iChatting with someone?!

Final lunch with everyone at Pompeii Italian restaurant!

We ate well all week. I think gained a few ounces! I better go home and burn off my duck belly

Mark Soljacich, a songwriter/musician and good friend of Bob & Dawn made a guest appearance to talk about his partnership with the Davis team. Way cool!

Mark played a song that he wrote specially for Bob & Dawn. Bob couldn't stop wipe that grin off his face thinking about his beautiful wife Dawn. Aww...

Roxanne talked about her company and all the awesome prints that they bring to life with their canvas products! I can't wait to get my own...

Bob & Dawn had a few surprise gifts for us...

Woo, my very own vision board! What should I write down? Hmm... maybe a lucky lady duck?!

We got our own hangers to use for the wedding day to hang bride's dress! Very clever! When I'm not shooting weddings, I can use it as my wing extension! I wonder if this will help me fly?!

Then it was time to say good bye. I gave hugs to everyone. Sniff, sniff...

Nice - GraphiStudio sent us some promo materials! Score!!!

Anton wanted my testimonial for the video. I can't wait to see the promo!

I am going to miss all the wonderful human folks that I met at this workshop! Bob & Dawn thank you so much for sharing your lives with us! I can't wait to tell all my duck friends about it!!! I feel like I'm armed and loaded ready to shoot a wedding! I'm going to apply what I learned here immediately! Anyone need a second shooter?! Until next time!

Davis Love Story Workshop Day 2 - Schaumburg Regional Airport

Hello everyone - this is Walter Duckworth - better known as What the Duck reporting live from Davis Love Story Workshop. Once again, I failed to blog again last night and again I blame all the other attendees for shooting late into the night. Don't they realize us ducks need at least 12 hrs of beauty sleep?!? Any ways, just when you thought a workshop couldn't get any better, the Davis team kicked it up another notch by taking us to the Schaumburg Regional Airport (I'm still trying to figure out how they pulled this off) and spent the entire afternoon shooting old war planes, helicopters, private jets and more! I can't wait to share more about it!!!

Here's Bob & Dawn at the studio explaining to us what we are doing. Everyone, including Dawn, is getting all giddy about the idea of shooting airplanes.

Woo.... check out his camera. Gotta get me one of those...Ok Walter, pay attention. I'm pretty sure Bob's going over something important...

Finally, they got me a duck-size sandwich. Yum!!! We all sat around and had lunch before the shoot. Thx to Jimmy John's for another speedy delivery!

Then we headed to the airport. I immediately became friends with this bear. I forgot his name. I'll call him Charlie.

At ease ladies... it's just me....

We get to shoot that?!? What the.... and they are landing just for us!! WOwser...

I got to play air traffic control directing the planes.... this way boys!

Talk about upclose and personal...these are the real planes from the WWI era! wow!

Got to chill with the pilot for a bit... berry niicceee ~

Look, we match!

Look at our super gorgeous models ready to rock out the session...

Here's one of the pilots talking to us about the planes...

I'm getting pretty good at this self-timer feature. Hee hee...quack, hee.. hee....

Ellie & Michael experimenting with light. Why don't you guys just ask me to model so you both can practice?!

Here's Elisa trying to be subliminally patriotic...

M M my, what have we here Bob?!?

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America....

I'm in love with our models...Woot!!!

Here's Scott having a good time with Kelly...

Waiting for Kelly's boyfriend Ben to arrive. I filled in for him until he came to join us.

Check out this angle... Berry Nicccceeee~ Bob learned this angle from me. But I actually stole this idea from our good photographer friend Kristie Blake. hee hee...

Check out the quality of light!!!

Trying out different angles and perspectives....

Naw, I much prefer getting down and low. Hanging out with Bob again - using him as my human tripod. Hold still Bob!!!

Woo.... check out this bird...

Duck to the base station...do you copy?!

Look at this stud!!!! --- Wait, that was Dawn, not me guys. This is what happens when you step away from the computer to take a potty break!!!

We got to shoot on the runway. How cool is that?!

Look at all the attendees shooting away. Man this was like a playground for photographers!!!

Here's Bob setting up the next shot. Woo, I wonder what he's going to do....

BAM!!!! Would you look at that?!

Caught these two love birds having their moment :)

I got to go for a spin on this pretty bird! Woo hoo!!!!

I'm getting tired of telling people this - folks, ducks do not know how to fly! Why do you keep doing thiiiissssssssssssssss!?!?

Ouch. I think I cracked my beak.

Ok that was fun. Can we do it again?!

Everyone is glad I'm ok. Cara doesn't like to be in front of the camera too much...

Ok back to shooting more cool planes. I love this job. :)

Getting ready for take off. Please don't drop me again...

And we're off!!!

Woo hoo, what a fun day! Taking a quick break before doing more shooting...

It was Ed Weiland's grandpa's 90th birthday. He got to celebrate in style! Good times!

That lucky chopper...

Hmm, so this is what the REALLY meant by Davis LOVE story. Berry Niccccceeee. Click, click, click, click.....

Thank you so much Bob & Dawn and everyone else for this awesome day at the airport. I can't wait to check out all the images that everyone else captured today. I am off to our last day of the workshop. It's going to be sad saying good bye to everyone.

Davis Love Story Workshop Day 1 - Official Coverage by Walter Duckworth (a.k.a. What The Duck)

First of all, I apologize to all my Duck fans out there for not blogging last night. I blame Bob, Dawn and the rest of the eagerly excited workshop attendees for going until 11:30pm last night. These guys are so enthusiastic about shooting and eventually a cop had to come at the end of the night to tell us to stop shooting. I managed to get up in the morning to do a quick blog update from all the crazy fun stuff we did yesterday:

Got my cup of coffee eagerly waiting for Bob & Dawn to set things up...

Woo....check out the cool packet we all got...

I think I will sit here and have snacks all day...

Look, I spotted one of my fans JR at this workshop! Impressive!!!

Had to squeeze in a shot with Bob & Dawn before the crazy day begins...

Ok, I'm getting way too excited I decided sit in the front.

Chimpin' on Bob's camera ain't easy...

Bob begins with the basics of working with light...

I love it when people are focused and eager to learn...

How in the world did Bob do that?!

I worry about this guy...

Ed sharing his tips with the attendees. It was so helpful to have other people there helping out Bob & Dawn.

Someone caught me taking a nap after lunch. Food coma kicked in...

I love taking photos with people. Everyone wanted take photos with me. I don't blame them.

Bob is such a great teacher. Patrick is learning few tips here...

Meet the models...I ain't so bad looking either. :)

Getting ready to do some studio shooting...

Dawn is giving tips to Gigi on how to pose. Dawn is such a natural.

Brianna is like 6ft tall. I had to get up on a ladder to take this shot.

Look at all the shooting and learning going on in there....

I loved how Bob took time to spend some moment with each attendees...

He didn't spend any time with me but it's ok. I was busy running around taking photos of myself.

Another fan wanted a photo with me. Ok fine...

Pat and I look great together....

Everyone gathering around to share all the great shots that they were getting...

Oh Walter behave...

How awesome is this?! I got to shoot right next to Bob!!! I was clicking away...

JR was trying to be funny pulling this prank on me. It's only funny JR until someone gets blinded...

Kelly & Pat doing an awesome job modeling for us...

Things got little out of control when all the models wanted to give me a kiss...

Look who just arrived! The one and only Anton and his not so duck-friendly guy Matt. I'm so excited - Anton is going to do my promo video next. Quack Quack!!

Look what just arrived for us to shoot... 1959 Cadillac convertible. Oh my...

Am I an attendee or a model? Please make up your mind people...

Bob getting down to my level to see what it's like to be me.

Of course everyone else had to copy him...

Then doing some more shooting from the back...

Bob then got bold and creative going on top of the railroad track bridge...here I am sitting right next to him. Look closely to Bob's right...

Then I had a little accident. Oops...it's ok, of course us ducks can't fly but we know how to do a safe landing...I'm ok folks!

Getting little creative here...

Then it was my turn to model again. Thanks Elisa for getting this awesome sun flare shot of me...

The things people make me do to get killer shots...

Anton making Bob's promo video of the workshop. Way cool!

Here's a shot that I took of Brianna. Isn't she such a beautiful model?

Then Brittany asked me to take a photo of her too. Why not?! :)

Here's the gang walking up the street to do one more location change...

We parked Thomas' cadillac in front of a store that said: Tom's Place. Bob finished out the night with some killer shots. This photo above doesn't do justice to what Bob got. I'm sure
he will post his later.

Ok, I'm late to the workshop. I better stop blogging. I quack you guys later! Thanks for looking at my post. Please leave lots of love and comments for Bob & Dawn here!!! This will also be posted on their facebook as well. :)

Davis Love Story Workshop - Official Coverage by Walter (a.k.a. What The Duck)

Hello everyone. My name is Walter, better known as What The Duck. I am currently at the Davis Love Story workshop here in Lemont, IL. I am so excited! I met Bob & Dawn last month while traveling through Italy and got to know them really well - so well that they asked me to come out to their workshop to attend & help out. I'm well-versed in online social media technology (blog, twitter, facebook, etc.) so they asked me to document my experience for the next three days. I'm so excited, I don't know even where to begin.

Disclaimer - please excuse me if I make lots of spelling and/or grammar mistakes. I just came back from Italy so I'm all confused still trying to get adjusted to the American culture.

I met Bob & Dawn at this small town called Positano.

We became instant friends and traveled to other cities together. Thanks Dawn for taking this photo of me hanging out w/ Bob.

I don't like to brag, but I took this amazing photo of them in Amalfi. They loved it so much they blew it up 10x bigger and made a canvas out of it - Thanks to Pixel2Canvas doing such a great job.

Whew, I finally made it to his house. I think I got here too early. No one is here. Oh well, I might as well help Bob set up.

Bob is setting up the photobooth that we'll be using for tonight. This is going to be so much fun. I'm in charge of it so I'll post some photos from the photobooth later.

OOo...we all get our own name badge! Where's mine?!!?

Score! I love getting free tshirts. Now I can officially say that I've been flashed by Bob & Dawn! Sweet!

Bob asked me to help adjust the camera a bit. Here I am fine tuning the exposure & white balance - almost ready for the fun shoot!

He's double checking to make sure I have everything right. That's good b/c I had no idea what I was doing in the previous photo. :)

Everyone arrived for the social mixer. Bob & Dawn are giving brief introduction about the workshop. Tonight we are going to just mingle, get to know each other and take some fun photobooth pics. I managed to set my camera on self-timer and made it down just in time for this shot. :)

Bob & Dawn took turns sharing with us what to expect at this workshop. I'm getting excited...

Their cute kids Bobby & Allie made a quick cameo appearance. Ok, back to doing homework guys...

Dawn is sharing so I better pay attention. She yells at me every time I get distracted. :)

I'm so stoked - I get to spend next three days with these wonderful folks from everywhere. We have folks from CA, TX, AL, IL & FL! Quack Quack!

Click on the photo to check out all the photos from today's photobooth shoot!!!

Ok, I gotta go back and join the party. I'll be updating frequently throughout the day tomorrow so be sure to visit back here often!!!
